ANN SACKS® announces Indah PORTLAND, Ore. (April 16, 2010) – ANN SACKS, a premier manufacturer and distributor of tile, stone and plumbing products, introduced the Indah Collection as part of its impressive line-up at the 2010 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Chicago. Indah, which means “beautiful” in Bahasa Indonesian, is a collection of intricate, hand-carved wood tiles expertly crafted from sustainably harvested plantation teak. (For those interested in the character inherent in aged wood, all Indah patterns may also be special ordered in reclaimed teak.) ANN SACKS selected teak exclusively for the 10 fields and borders that comprise the Indah Collection. Chosen for centuries as a medium by sculptors, it is teak’s natural composition and rich coloration that makes it so coveted, presenting a strong, yet yielding surface to execute complex renderings of great detail. Inspired by traditional folk art and the simplicity of natural elements, ANN SACKS collaborated with Indonesian artisans to bring the Indah designs to life, each painstakingly carved in exquisite, multi-dimensional relief. The collection currently offers seven 12” x 12” field designs: Circles, Fingerprint, Weave, Banana Leaf, Acanthus Leaf, Horizontal Lines, Horizontal and Waves, as well as three 4” x 24” border designs: Fan, Circle and Left. To complement the wood’s natural beauty and elaborate carving, ANN SACKS also developed five finishes for the line:
The Indah Collection is suitable for all interior residential and commercial installations, though is not recommended for wet areas. When installed in an interior setting, if left unfinished, the teak’s natural reddish-brown shade will soften in color. |
