Carilo by ANN SACKS® presents an ecological alternative in tile design

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 26, 2011) – ANN SACKS, a premier manufacturer and distributor of tile introduced Carilo glass tiles at the 2011 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. The 100-percent recycled Carilo tile is part of the Eco-Thinking ANN SACKS product line, designed from a unique composition of float glass used in the manufacture of windows and other industrial glass products.

ANN SACKS spent two years seeking out a recycled glass that met its quality standards. Carilo not only met but exceeded expectations bringing to the marketplace a product that is both beautifully executed and environmentally sound. To achieve its remarkable results, glass is crushed before being hand-separated by artists who coordinate the varying colors into complementing lots. Once fired, the tile is hand-worked to evoke a silky smooth hand and sensual, gently planed surface. The tile is virtually maintenance free and can be used for medium duty flooring, feature walls, backsplashes and fireplace surrounds.

Carilo presents a depth of color and natural irregularity that means no two tiles are alike and, depending upon the lay-up, offers almost limitless ways to elicit a visual statement. The random pooling of color creates a variegated surface that ranges from the mottled effect similar to that of marble to a celestial, star-like patterning. The tiles are offered in field sizes of 3½ x7, 7x14, and 14x28 and in an organic color range of Bark Matte, Crush Matte, Sleet Matte, Thunder Matte or Trunk Matte, while the 1x1 straight mosaic tiles are offered in a choice of Crush Matte, Gray Blend or Brown Blend
